Travel and Accommodations
Traveling to Beacon, New York
By far the best airport is Stewart International in Newburgh. It is easy in-and-out and is located just across the Hudson River from Beacon - a 15 minute taxi/Uber/Lyft ride away.
The next best option would be one of the NYC airports - JFK or Laguardia. From JFK or Laguardia you can either rent a car or you can take a taxi/Uber/Lyft to Grand Central and then take the Metro North train to Beacon. You can check the Metro North schedule here. Travel time from Grand Central to Beacon via Metro North runs about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Make sure you sit on the Hudson River side (your left side as you are facing away from the GC terminal) for beautiful views. Once in Beacon you can take a taxi/Uber/Lyft to your hotel or Airbnb.
Other options are Newark International airport (about 1 hour and 45 minutes away), Westchester County Airport in White Plains (about an hour away) or Albany International (about 1 hour and 45 minutes away). You can rent a car from any of these.
Falls at The Roundhouse.
Accommodations
There are two hotels I would recommend in Beacon: The Inn and Spa at Beacon and The Roundhouse.
There are many people doing Airbnb in town and the prices range from about $60 to $120 a night (click here). It is best to book as early as possible as many of the Airbnbs rent out well in advance. If you are coming during the summer months you may want to check with the owner to make sure they have air conditioning. To orient you, my studio is located near the corner of Verplanck Avenue and Willow Street (click here)
A few Airbnb recommendations from former students:
Several students have stayed here and liked it.
One of my students had a nice stay here. This family rents out several rooms at various prices.
